Biography
Dr. Soon Yee Wong is an Assistant Professor in Civil Engineering at the University of Nottingham Malaysia, within the Faculty of Science and Engineering. He obtained his Master of Engineering with Honours in Civil Engineering from the University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus, and subsequently pursued a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Civil Engineering at the same institution.
His research interests centre on Numerical Modelling and Advanced Triaxial Testing, with particular expertise in geotechnical engineering, landslide risk assessment, and construction technology. His work bridges computational analysis with physical testing, providing validated solutions for real-world engineering challenges.
Dr. Wong's research has been published in leading international journals including Acta Geotechnica, Geoenvironmental Disasters, and Construction and Building Materials. His landmark review of landslide acceptable and tolerable risk has accumulated over 238 citations, establishing him as a significant authority in geohazard risk assessment.
In addition to his academic role, Dr. Wong contributes to university administration through various committee positions and is actively involved in industry consulting, bridging the gap between academic research and practical engineering solutions.
